Expectations

My daughter was so excited when she found out Simple Plan was playing up the road, then devastated when it turned out tickets had sold out. I expected she’d be miserable for days (but we ended up sorting it out). But it got me thinking … she’d have been happy if there hadn’t been the stuff to *want* in the first place. And I was thinking, wow, what if we lived in a world where we constantly felt like there was really good stuff, but then we couldn’t have it .. and i realised OMG, that’s exactly what we have – constant advertising creating false needs … always feeling like there’s so much we don’t have … what a recipe for disaster!!!  It’s no wonder depression is on the rise.
